Livinguard PRO MASK can be worn as an alternative to the FFP2 mask

As a tested corona pandemic respiratory protection mask (CPA), the Livinguard PRO MASK is “comparable” to FFP2 masks within the framework of the applicable regulations.

In addition to FFP2 masks, the current Corona Protection Ordinance also allows the wearing of “comparable” medical respiratory masks as part of the mask requirement. As a certified CPA (Corona Pandemic Respirator), the Livinguard PRO MASK complies with the current requirements and can still be worn at work, in retail and in local public transport.

Zug, Switzerland, April 21, 2021  On Wednesday ( April 21, 2021 ) the Bundestag passed an amendment to the Infection Protection Act, which, among other things, was supplemented by a new Section 28b. Basically, the changes in the Infection Protection Act provide for the mandatory wearing of respiratory masks or medical face masks (“FFP2 or comparable”) in retail, local public transport and at work, among other things. As part of the interpretation of what is considered to be permissible as “FFP2 or comparable”, the annex of the SARS-CoV2 occupational health and safety ordinance stipulates that so-called corona pandemic respiratory protection masks (CPA) are also permitted, provided that equivalent protection is provided by a CPA Short test has been proven.

TÜV Nord had already tested the Livinguard PRO MASK in March 2020 and demonstrated equivalent protection. The Livinguard PRO MASK therefore complies with the current Corona requirements and can continue to be used where the scope of the new Section 28b of the Infection Protection Act provides for the wearing of respiratory masks (unless individual federal states go beyond this mask requirement in their regulations). It is also certified as a medical face mask (EN 14683: 2019, Type I). The Livinguard PRO MASK is designed for internal and external protection and provides protection against coronaviruses equivalent to that of FFP2 masks.

Background: CPA masks

CPA masks (Corona Pandemic Respiratory Protection Masks) are respiratory protection masks that filter aerosols and viruses, but usually without a CE or EN 149 mark. Based on § 9 of the “Ordinance to ensure the supply of the population with medical products in the case of the epidemic caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2” (in short: MedBVSV) with an “official confirmation” as an alternative to masks with FFP2 Standard can be used.

As early as spring 2020, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Federal Ministry of Health recommended that the federal states allow the wearing of other respiratory masks due to the lack of medical respiratory masks, even if these do not fully meet the European standard, but alternatively a short CPA test passed. This test principle was developed on the basis of the relevant European standard EN 149 for respiratory masks by the Central Office of the Federal States for Safety Technology (ZLS) in cooperation with the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) and DEKRA at the end of March 2020 and is still valid.

The Livinguard PRO MASK complies with the specified CPA standard and offers more effective protection against coronaviruses (SARS-CoV-2) than many other types of mask thanks to a filter capacity of at least 95 percent, a tight fit and its self-disinfecting function. The Livinguard PRO MASK can be worn up to 210 times and only needs to be rinsed with cold water once a week. This makes it an efficient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly alternative to disposable masks or conventional FFP2 masks. At the same time, the Livinguard PRO MASK can be worn for a comparatively long time of up to eight hours a day.
